Qualified for more than 20 years, the design and manufacturing of subassemblies for the aerospace industry are part of our historical activities.
We have demonstrated a very high level of expertise in terms of technology, industrial processes and complex project management.
AML Microtechnique Lorraine has voluntarily adapted its organization so that it can meet the expectations and constraints of a sector with high requirements such as space (qualification, standards, quality, respect of due dates, etc.).
Over the past 20 years, AML has supplied more than 33,000 space-qualified waveguides for more than 115 different satellites of telecommunication, earth observation and scientific satellites.
Enclosure for a scientific satellite
This is how we have earned the trust of the world’s largest satellite integrators.
Our strategic customers include Airbus Defence and Space, Thales Alenia Space, Honeywell Aerospace, MDA, OHB, Mitsubishi Electric, INVAP and many others.
Supply of waveguides for the IRIDIUM Next constellation
Microwave expertise
Iridium Next is the second generation of the constellation of telecommunications satellites manufactured and commissioned by Thales Alenia Space on behalf of IRIDIUM.
AML Microtechnique Lorraine participated in the project by providing some 3200 waveguides for the programme over a period of 3 years.
Project management skills, quality monitoring and microwave expertise were decisive in the success of this project.
Our level of expertise in the design and optimization of RF components has enabled AML to establish itself as a European leader in the supply of passive components dedicated to aeronautics and space business area.
Our capabilities range from a “built to print” to the complete development & manufacturing of a solution according to the specifications expected by our customers.
Manufacturing of rotary-joints for the STAR NG radar system
Expertise in RF, Assembly and Integration
The STAR NG radar is a medium-range primary air control radar used by civilian and military airports. This system was developed by Thales. As a final approach radar, the STAR NG is capable of detecting a wide spectrum of aerial objects within a radius of 100 nautical miles (+/-180 km).
AML has participated in this project through the manufacturing and supply of RF rotary-joints ensuring the transmission of the signal from the source to the antenna. This project called on AML’s expertise in project management, assembly, manufacturing but also in RF control and optimisation.
Thanks to its great expertize of brazing processes, AML Microtechnique Lorraine is able to offer different types of complex parts like frames and structures integrating cooling functions.
Mainly suitable for harsh environments, AML brazed products guarantee a level of extreme mechanical resistance while ensuring the expected thermal dissipation performance.
AML has the necessary resources to carry out fluidic and thermal simulations.
Supply of the EMPU housing for the Airbus A400M TP400D6 engine
An Engine Protection and Monitoring Unit (EPMU) is a system that supervise the critical engine parameters. It ensures the correct functioning of the turboprop.
An EPMU is therefore an extremely critical part. As part of its collaboration with MTU Aero Engines, AML Microtechnique Lorraine supplied more than 530 EPMU units for the Airbus A400M program.
AML has been chosen for its great expertize in brazing, in particular for the definition of primary parts to be brazed wich assures a very rigid housing.
AML is a sole source supplier for more than 15 years for this housing.
